Although there might be some misconceptions in relation to the company’s policies, there is need to ensure that such issues are clearly addressed. This will make it easy for various stakeholders to understand the company’s position in a better way. Discussion Criticisms In recent years, several labor unions have argued that the company does not allow its workers/employees to become their members (Frank 5). They have further implied that Wal Mart has a very strict anti-union stance. This means that workers cannot join trade unions without any victimization. For instance, in 2005, the company was negatively portrayed by labor unions through media campaigns (Kabel 7). An example of such negative media campaigns is the Wal-Mart Watch advert. This advert was sponsored by the service employees union (Kabel 12). In addition, there was the wake up Wal- Mart advert by the food and commercial union. Wal-Mart has also been criticized for locking night shift workers in the shopping malls. This case was compounded by an employee who waited for hours before he could get any help after crushing an ankle (Frank 15). The worker could not get any medical attention because all the exits were locked. Various organizations have argued that this is the cheapest practice that the company has ever engaged in as far as risk management is concerne d (Stilgoe 32). Furthermore, this is a very draconian working environment. Wal- Mart is being accused of paying its employees low and unacceptable wages. Most people believe that the company is getting away with such a practice and this is unacceptable. Although these payments are above the poverty levels, the company is being pressurized to at least increase its wages. Because of this, the company’s competitors and other organizations are saying that there is an impact to workers wages when it enters a given market. In this case, the company can displace other high wage retail jobs. This therefore becomes an economic loss to most workers. In addition, disposable income is greatly affected and this reduces their purchasing power. On the other hand, the company reduces a country’s employment by 2.7% (Meekel 16). This is in relation to its store openings as far as retail employment is concerned.Advertising Looking for essay on business economics? Let's see if we ca n help you! In this case, it depresses wages and salaries. In addition, the company is believed to displace good and better paying jobs. Jobs that have been eliminated pay 18% more than what the company offers in a metropolitan area. Generally, merchandising workers wages are reduced by more than 0.8 % (Meekel 24). Wal- Mart is also being accused of exposing employees to dangerous health hazards. This means that employees are subjected to poor working conditions. According to them (critics), the company is big enough to ensure that health standards and practices are adhered to (Barbaro 19). To push their case forward, they have made reference to the company’s reports that attest to the fact that it has extensive health problems in its directly sourced factories. Apart from these argu ments and accusations; there is a feeling that Wal- Marts entry in a given market hurts small businesses. This is because; there is a reduction in net employment more so by small retailers. As a matter of fact, this increases the chances of job destruction in case there is an exit from the market. From the Wake- up Wal- Mart media campaign, the company has been accused of making taxpayers to suffer because of its poor pay and low wages (Barbaro 34). This means that public assistance as a result of the company’s policies makes different states to lose a lot of money. Various communities feel that the company does not consult them in their expansion programs. In this case, they argue that Wal- Mart builds various stores in different towns without involving to residents (Barbaro 41). The company is also facing various gender and sexual orientation law suits. It is alleged that female employees are discriminated against as far as promotions and pay are concerned. This is a very b ig law suit considering that the company employs more than 1.5 million women (Stilgoe 23). The company has received various grievances in relation to employee-employer relationships. There is an unfavorable relationship that makes it hard for employees to carry out their duties more effectively. This affects their productivity and ability to become more creative and innovative (Barbaro 19). Recommendations All these arguments and accusations have in one way or the other affected the company’s public relations. As a matter of fact, the company needs to rectify the bad public relations it has received. In addition, they can still turn this public relations mess into a more positive public image. As much as the company has launched an effective media campaign, working families for Wal- Mart, it needs to intensify such campaigns to correct its image. This will give it an opportunity to tell its own side of the story (Sellers 21).Advertising We will write a custom essay sampl e on WalMart and its Criticism specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More In this case, people will be able to understand what is going on in the company instead of reading stories from the media. There should be more intensive counter criticisms through effective public relations. As a matter of fact, the company has a PR website, walmartfacts.com, which needs to be made more effective. Through this website, the company can be able to engage various stakeholders and come up with the best way forward. Wal- Mart needs to engage the services of a competent PR firm that will interact with stakeholders on a personal level. This will give them a chance to express themselves in relation to the company’s policies. In addition, the company will be able to explain these concerns before they are taken advantage of by its critics. As far as the company’s health standards and working conditions are concerned, they can invite people to visit i ts headquarters and stores. This will enable the company to interact well with various parties and come up with a solution to such a problem. The company needs to come up with good health coverage plans that will cover more employees (Basker 9). These plans should be well marketed and publicized to attract more employees and ensure that they are taken care of. This will correct the bad public relations that it has received in relation to health standards. Online interaction should also be enhanced to improve its relations with shoppers and customers. This will enable the company to get rid of any misconceptions in advance. Because it has been hurt by bad public relations, the company should increase its public relations and media team. This will ensure that any concerns and bad public relations are attended to without straining its existing team. In the long run, it will attract the best talent in public relations and improve its image (Basker 27). Through these recommendations, the company will be in a better position to improve its bad public relations for sustainability. This is because bad public relations can affect its business and market position. Conclusion Bad public relations affect the company’s performance in various ways. Although there might be some misconceptions in relation to the companies policies, there is need to ensure that such issues are clearly addressed. This will make it easy for various stakeholders to understand the company’s position in a better way. All these arguments and accusations have in one way or the other affected its public relations. Free sample - Why I want to be a Doctor. translation missing

Why I want to be a Doctor. Why I want to be a DoctorBecoming a successful doctor and touching on the lives of many people seems to be my main objective in life. The drive towards this course in life is derived from a number of factors that are worth mentioning at this point. First, my past experience as a child spells clearly on the reasons why I want to become a doctor with specialization in gynecology. The passion for helping other people started early in life when I was still a child. Playing as a doctor was my favorite during those early childhood pleasures and I always enjoyed handling my play patients who were friends, animals and dolls with a lot of love and tenderness. I was also good in handling pregnant women and babies because they seemed to be very delicate and deserving a lot of care. I always had a strong feeling that I could heel my patients because I understood what they were going through. Naturally I  Ã‚   have a liking for life on earth be it for animals or humans; and I would do anything to protect it. I believe that I can make important contributions towards improving the health and medical services of other people in the society. Secondly my personal experiences have also provided impetus in my desire to pursue a medical profession. My own blood brother suffered severe migraines that really affected his early life. He was forced to spend weeks in a darkened room and almost gave up with education. This particular experience really broke my heart as I just wished to bring him back to his normal life. Personal touch with babies in hospitals during medical tours and other events have really influenced my attitude towards sick babies. I have had a baby cousin who suffered from neuroblastoma cancer during infantry and it really broke my heart. The problem started as a lump in her spine that was later diagnosed as a cancer. The cancer culminated into a paralysis on the lower waist. The paralysis had a great impact on her   as evidenced by the walking difficulties she encountered later on. The picture of her on the hospital bed with artificial tubes touched my life and triggered my passion to assist such cases. At local and national hospitals I have participated in future Doctor programs. The tours in these facilities have provided hand-on experience with operations and equipments that have shaped my curiosity to learn more. Successful Doctors have also encouraged me to follow the medical path in the course of our interactions in the hospitals. A terrible first encounter as an ob/gyn has always motivated me into making a difference in the medical profession. This particularly concerns Doctors who had weak skills and showed no empathy to patients. In light of this unfortunate incidence, I have vowed to be different and make good connections with people in the course of helping to address their medical challenges. In my professional career I have a desire to bring significant changes in the provision of medicare for pregnant women and babies. As already indicated these people are delicate and deserve the best care. Reducing mortality rates of infants in my country would be part of my strategy in my medical profession. Cases of negligence and lack of empathy amongst some doctors have really disheartened me and I am really determined to be more caring compassionate in bringing great care to mothers and babies. I have a strong conviction that such an accomplishment would bring meaning not only to me but to other people in the society. By recognizing the innocence in babies and participating in welcoming them to the world I would make important contributions to our future generations. Skills and knowledge acquired in the course of studying medicine would eventually trickle down to the entire society with the practice of the profession in various health facilities. Given the opportunity I would put in all my efforts and leave a legacy that would remain in the minds of many for the rest of their lives. Finally it is important to re affirm that I have a strong calling to pursue this cause so as to help other people and bring change in the society in terms of infant and maternity care. This dream can only be actualized if I am granted the opportunity to study for the course in your institution.

International Acoounting theory Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

International Acoounting theory - Essay Example The process of cutting down disparities among national accounting regulations, also referred to as the process of harmonization, has undoubtedly made steps forward since profound work began on it as freshly as 1967. Taking into account the dissimilarities that are present between the accounting goals of nations at various levels of progress and with various legal structures, possibly the astonishing thing is that any development at all has been accomplished in such short notice (McCarthy 2003). There are several theoretical assumptions of categorizing countries when taking into account their accounting requirements. One apparent difference is between the democracies and the authoritarian administrations that govern a great portion of the world. This difference does not match up efficiently to a partition between free enterprise and centrally regulated economies, because there are democracies such in the case of India with a considerable section of the economy in the control of state-owned and state-regulated enterprises, and there are those countries which are communist such as Hungary and Yugoslavia that leave capacity for a number of free enterprise (Solomons 1986). The relevance of this difference for financial accounting depends in the contribution of private investors as well as the capital market. They will commonly be much more relevant in free enterprise economies, and financial accounting will function in the same way more important role in the allocation and dist ribution of scarce resources (ibid, 53). Another evident difference is between the industrialized nations of North America, Europe, Australia and Japan and developing nations of Asia and Africa. Once again, the distinction is one of scale rather than of type. Every country is developing or retrogressing, and accounting has its task to fulfil in that growth in all of them. Majority

Diversity Education Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Diversity Education - Assignment Example of differing cultures and sub-cultures, and encouraging responsibility for social justice is an improvement because it encourages social cooperation across cultural and sub-cultural divides, and it presents the equivalent viability of all cultural orientations (Gurin, Nagda, & Lopez, The benefits of diversity in education for democratic citizenship, 2004). This is the definitive category that contextualizes a preferred approach to diversity education. It is a more holistic approach, in that teachers must first understand personal biases, resolve them, be willing to learn from student experience and feedback, and suspend any ethnocentricity they feel (Washington State University , 2012). They must also be consistent about releasing personal power privilege, so that an environment of shared power can be sustained, so that honesty and authenticity can prevail (Gurin, Dey, Hurtado, & Gurin, 2002). Research confirms this approach as being the most effective. It is best for healthy identit y formation and cognition because it presents necessary relational discontinuities (Gurin, Dey, Hurtado, & Gurin, 2002). It supports academic success (Gurin, Dey, Hurtado, & Gurin, 2002). It shapes culturally competent people who are best positioned to join the global community’s workforce (Cocchiara, 2009), respond to cultural others, and make decisions that will prove effective and widely applicable (Washington State University , 2012). Research has found that diversity education strongly instills democratic sentiments, and pro-democracy skills, such as taking on other perspectives, being comfortable in conflict situations and thus able to resolve conflict in a mutually satisfying manner (Gurin, Nagda, & Lopez, The benefits of diversity in education for democratic citizenship, 2004).... This paper approves that the research shows that diversity education emphasizing cultural relativity, integration, mutuality and social justice actually increases respect for difference, as well as commonality. This is a counter influence against marginalization. It follows, then, that a diversity-educated person will pose a substantially reduced threat. According to the paper it is a fact that society is now global. It is not possible to participate fully without diversity fluency. With widespread immigration, globalization, refugee distribution, the Internet, and global issues dominating the news, it is imperative that everyone at least knows how to fit in effectively and has the skills to be productive. With war and terrorism being ubiquitous and globally threatening, skills for fostering mutual cooperation are essential to survival. This need not impinge on religious and lifestyle choices, if mutual respect is the bottom line for everyone. This essay says that democracy can be interpreted as being best done within a pre-approved religious framework. An examination of differences can be threatening and used to justify exclusion, while a search for commonalities may be seen as requiring sacrificial dilution of treasured differences, religious truths and values. There are always multiple sides to an issue, however, and this one is no exception. Justification for the stance claimed as most excellent, in this paper, rests on certain assumptions. One of those assumptions is that the best choice is one supported by research.

Kitchen Best Essay Example for Free

Kitchen Best Essay Individual case study: Kitchen Best Kitchen Best is the typical family owned SME, specialized in the Kitchen appliance production, with Headquarter in Hong Kong and manufacturing plant based in China, in the Guandong province. The main problems concerning the company, are all related with its managing and governance system. The company has been run for years by its founder, Cha Dong, who managed it in a paternalistic way, establishing very strong relationships with most of its senior Staff. His management style reflected the old business culture, characterized by high sense of belonging to the â€Å"family† and an high degree of acceptance of the practice of kickbacks, considered the normal way to run business in China. When Cha Dong, at the end off its career, left the management to its son, Henry Chan, all the governance shortcomings came to light. Henry Chan, who received a Western education, had a more international approach, less involved than its father in the operational activities of the company and more focused on its ambitious targets. He prospected to double the revenues of the company entering the US and EU market directly, while continuing to serve the Asian market, where its father focused until that day. Its expertise in the Western culture would have helped the enter in such markets, making the project ambitious but feasible, on the other side focusing in such a target would have meant ignoring the management aspects of its role, who are the basis for the success of a company. Furthermore Henry Chan lack of operational expertise, so he completely relies on Ma Luk, the company’s operations Director, to whom his father delegated the entire operational activities of the factory, during its lasts years of management. He had in that way a great independence and power, given by its expertise and close connection with clients and suppliers. He had also a low level of coordination with Henry Chan, to whom he formally reported, but still substantially referred to Chang Dong for important issues. In fact the Kitchen Best founder had still a strong managerial presence in the company, as all its employees trusted him completely, we can asses that the managerial transition did not happened in substantial terms. The company’s culture reflects the old managerial style of the founder: the selection and training of employees is done on a familiar contact base, not relying on impartial standards of efficiency. The lack of standards in training and  recruitment, the high degree of toleration of kickbacks, together with the high independence in the operational decisions, are all factors that contributed to the bad management of the Staff. To Ma Luk, too much power was delegated, with no substantial control, due to the lack of technical skills of Henry Chan. Moreover his strong ties with clients and suppliers were created through kickbacks, tolerated by the father and after by his son, partially to provide a certain continuation in management and partially for fear of losing most of the crucial contacts. Sze, on the other side, trained Macy Wei, Quality Control Manager, affecting so the impartiality required by her role. Looking at the Trust and Advice Network inside the company, we will s urely underline a strong connection between Sze and Macy Wei, as between Ma Luk and Cha Dong, while the actual manager of the company will result isolated and not connected to the main key figures of Kitchen Best. The communication Network will also reveal important managerial considerations. The communication is formal, non effective and one-way: from the bottom to the top, with a total absence of feedback from Henry Chan. A radical change is so necessary in the company’s culture and governance system, starting with a zero tolerance approach toward facilitating payments. Kickbacks are reducing the competitiveness of the company and is severely punished by criminal laws both in China and Macao, where the company operates. This corruptive system is also exposing the company to many problems: one of its key customers, Honghua, has adopted a zero tolerance policy to kickbacks and the company is re-evaluating all its suppliers under standards of competitiveness. To cope with these issues, Henry Chan should concentrate more in the operational part of the company, gaining expertise and position himself strongly at the head of the company. First of all, he should establish a code of ethics, as a first step to change the old and paternalistic company’s culture, by inserting Western elements such as standards and ethics principles. The Code of Ethics should be a formal statement, containing ethical principles related with employees responsibilities and Business integrity. On the other side, Standards should be settled and implemented, with a zero toleration of sub-standards, especially when Selecting, Hiring, Training and Promoting employees. Promotions should be based on performance and compliance with the Codes. Moreover an External Independent Auditor should be hired to control that all  the members of the company, and also its suppliers are complying with standards and Codes. After all, Henry Chan should communicate in an effective w ay the radical measures adopted, explaining to the Stuff how fundamental is for the company to meet the standards established, to enhance its competitiveness in order to better serve its actual Asian clients and to enter the US and EU market. Repeating past errors, such as the Shago or Haus de Metro Incidents, will be fatal for the future of the company: suppliers will be chosen according to their competitiveness and no more on family or friendship relationship base. For that reason a specific Code of behavior for Suppliers has to be implemented too. In conclusion, to make the corporate governance transformation of Kitchen Best feasible, Henry Chan should definitely strengthen its position and impose a more ethic behavior inside the company. To do so, he should enter into the Trust Network, establishing a trust relationship with its Stuff, not being afraid of scolding them when necessary and partially divesting their strength in the customer and suppliers relationships. He should Invest much more time in operational and managerial tasks, as the growth and success of the company depend on them. He should also implement a bi-side communication with its employees, reporting periodically their performances through Feedbacks. When Henry Chan will have adopted all these measures and implemented all the Standards and Codes, his father will be divested from its role, reducing so its influence in the company’s decisions, who reflected the old paternalistic culture, favorable to the unethical practice of facilitating payments.

Anatomical Discoveries During the Renaissance Period Essay -- history o

More medical discoveries and advances are occurring every day. Medical treatments and understanding of the human anatomy have come a long way. Though if it weren’t for certain Anatomists, we may have not have had the right comprehension of the human body which could have led to errors in surgery and more deaths while treating patients. The Renaissance period was a time where Anatomists searched for clearer understanding of the human body. During the Renaissance period, Anatomists questioning and experimentation led to great discoveries of the human body. Wrong theories of the anatomy have been assumed to be correct for thousands of years. Theories of using a scientific base were not used by the Europeans until the Renaissance period (â€Å"Medicine†). These theories, made by a Greek Physician named Galen, were supported by the Catholic Church. The Middle Ages were a difficult time to achieve medical advances because Galen’s theories were not to be questioned or tested(â€Å"The Impact of the Renaissance on Medicine†).Even after these theories appeared to be inaccurate, the support from such a high authority made it extremely difficult to change the medical practices and training(â€Å"Rennaissance medicine†). The knowledge of medicine grew drastically during the Renaissance period (Siralisi 189). Research conducted during the Renaissance period by Andreas Vesalius, Matteo Realdo Colombo, Geronimo Fabrious, Ambroise Pare, and William Harvey has given us a better understanding of the human anatomy ("Renaissance medicine"). Once the Renaissance period hit, anatomists were able to work through the scientific method and find the flaws in Galen’s theories(â€Å"The Impact of the Renaissance on Medicine†). Antigone’s Relations Essay

In the two Antigone plays that we read, Anouilh’s 1940’s modern version and Sophocles’ version, there are many contrasts. Everything from the setting to the message is different, however the relationship between characters is the most striking difference; relationships with Antigone in particular. In Sophocles’ version, the character relations are rather underdeveloped, which is an extreme contrast from the relationships shown in Anouilh’s version of Antigone. The relationships that are the most different between the two plays are Antigone’s relationship with Creon and with Haemon. Antigone’s relationship with Creon in the Sophocles’ version differs greatly from the Anouilh version. The most obvious difference is that in the Anouilh version Creon doesn’t want Antigone to die and tries every way he can to keep her alive. He exhausts just about every argument possible, starting and frequently returning to the similarities between her and her father. He tells her how idiotic her father was and that she would be wise to not make the same mistakes even though she carries the same characteristics that lead Oedipus to his death. Then he switches tactics and half orders her to not be put to death because she has to marry Haemon, and when that doesn’t work, he pulls a pity plea of how much he would like to bury Polynices but simply can’t because of his duties as a king and what it would cost him if he bent to Antigone’s will. None of these arguments work, even when Creon, in a last desperate attempt to sway her, reveals to her how horrible her precious brothers actually are. Really in this version, Creon does care about Antigone; he has nothing to gain from keeping Antigone alive besides that she would marry Haemon, and her sister Ismene is still around to marry him if Antigone is put to death. In contrast, the Sophocles version doesn’t present such a caring- if you could call it that in Anouilh’s- relationship. In this relationship all Creon wants to do is see Antigone put to death. He is unswayed by any argument that his son Haemon throws out there. In this version things are simple. Antigone went against Creon’s edict and buried her brother, so therefore she must be put to death, no ifs ands or buts about it. There is no room for argument or feeling, and no real relationship development. While the relationship between Antigone and Creon in the Sophocles version is very underdeveloped when compared with the Anouilh version, the relationship between Antigone and Haemon is even more so. In the Sophocles story, there is no indication of the great everlasting love between the two that would drive Haemon to kill himself over finding Antigone dead. There is almost no feelings of anger or sadness at her sentence to death until Haemon suddenly flies into a rage at the very end upon seeing Antigone dead and shoves a sword through his body. To Haemon’s credit, he does show a little bit of rebellion when arguing with his father about the outcome of Antigone. He comes through with a little bit of strength after all of the â€Å"oh father, you are so wise† junk, and tells him that maybe he should bend just a little for her for his own benefit. And when Creon doesn’t listen to his advice, he implies with his last words to his father â€Å"†¦ And you will never see my face again†¦Ã¢â‚¬ (Sophocles, scene 3, line 133) that he may in fact take his own life. But that’s as far as it goes, and it seems to be more out of anger at his father than of his love for Antigone. In Anouilh’s version of the story, Haemon and Antigone have a much more developed relationship. It’s plainly clear that Haemon loves Antigone and wants to be with her, even if she doesn’t fully understand why he chose her over Ismene. The fact that he did chose her over Ismene shows more than anything else that he does indeed love her. Anouilh’s added scene with Haemon and Antigone develops the relationship so much more and gives one a more believable basis for Haemon killing himself over Antigone. The scene is an intimate look at a couple in love, instead of in the Sophocles version a relationship that seems t o be arranged for convenience at best. The changes in scenes which enhance and develop the relationships of Antigone with Creon and Haemon greatly improve the Anouilh version. Without the added scenes and implications in the scenes, the Sophocles version is rather dry and doesn’t inspire much catharsis. However, in the Anouilh version, the reader is actually made to feel for the characters through their trials and tribulations, and therefore to be angry at Creon for killing her, disbelieving of Antigone for her stubborn pride, and sad for all involved when everyone except for Creon end up dead. So although both versions are supposed to be the same story, the relationship developments are so  contrasting that they are different stories altogether.

Environmental Proposal and Presentation Essay

For this assignment we chose the Patton-Fuller Community Hospital for our virtual organization. HOMEWORK # 2 Essays - Phylogenetics, Biology, Free Essays HOMEWORK # 2 CONSTRUCTING PHYLOGENIES Below are two sets of amino acid sequences from 6 different species numbered 1-6. Using what we have learned about constructing phylogenetic trees (refer to your notes and textbook) draw a phylogenetic tree (hypothesis about relationships) based on the similarities shared among the 6 species in each data set. Note: the 6 species are the same in each dataset and you should have one phylogenetic hypothesis (tree) for each set of sequences. Protein Sequence Set A Species 5 GNAGYGAEALERM Species 6 GNAGYGAEALERM Species 2 NHAAFGAEALERM Species 3 NHSAYGAEALERM Species 1 AHAGYGAEALERM Species 4 GHAGYGGEALDRT Protein Sequence Set B Species 5 LCNSIGSLFQTFSI Species 6 LCNSTGSLFQTFAI Species 2 LCNSTGSLFQTFAI Species 3 LCNSTGSLFQTFAI Species 1 LCNSIGSLFQTFSI Species 4 LCNSIGSLFQTFSI Questions: If the two different sets of sequences result in different hypotheses, what might explain these differences (think about what we've been discussing in class)? What types of additional information would you need to decide among the different hypotheses? Which of the trees is the preferred tree and why?

Analysis of the Poem The Wreck of Deutschland by Gerard Manley Hopkins

SS Deutschland is an iron passenger liner of the Norddeutscher Lloyd series which is the first flight from Bremen to New York. On December 4, 1875, Germany traveled with 123 immigrants from Bremerhaven to New York. The weather condition of the ship was awful; a snowstorm hit an area near the Kentish Knock ship, Kent and the Essex coast of England. The German crew tried to retreat but failed when the pressure ruptured the German propeller. Gerard Manley Hopkins has eight brothers and sisters born in Manley and Catherine Smith Hopkins. His parents are Episcopal churches that follow the Catholic tradition sacraments and pope. By planting the theological values, beliefs, and morals of Gerald, he was seriously affected by his family. His parents taught him to love God with other children. Gerard was convinced that she would become familiar with the Bible by strengthening her connection with her mother, so Gerrard started reading the New Testament at school. Gerald Manley Hopkins is always fascinated by the individuality of personal thinking and experience. As W. H. Gardner explains, Hopkins' ideal is poetry and art work, which is very beautiful. He uses the language as a means to immerse himself in the feeling as much as possible; awe, surprise, disappointment, confusion, alienation, certainty and doubt. Some of the great literary works prosper in the voice of independent, other, and sometimes intentional anemic stories, but Hopkins has released his poem throughout his existence. The most expressive belief His perceptualism is revealed in the original metaphor such as yellow-yellow candle and vivid discoloration. Broader and more accurate terms. In the mid 1800s, a very spiritual poet was born. Gerard Manley Hopkins was born on 28th July 1844 to Manly and Catherine (Smith) Hopkins, the first child of nine children (Drabble 473). His parents were High Church Anglicans and his father last year published a large number of poems (Drabble 473). He was appointed a pastor of the Jesuits who wrote a beautiful poem full of harmony with nature. In most cases, Hopkins' poetry was published after the death of 1889. Five years before Hopkins' death, he wrote six terrible sonnets that revealed their inner torture and separation from God (Davi 86). These poems were written by Hopkins as a professor at Dublin College College (Drabble 474). Strategic planning and Control Coursework Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3750 words

Strategic planning and Control - Coursework Example This learning statement is dedicated to outlining the learning that took place and how the learning came about. The module exposed me to two types of learning which were desk learning and field learning. Each of these two brought about different forms of learning for me. For example the desk learning which involved reading from books, articles and the PPT files given by the lecturer exposed me to concepts about planning and control. Today, I know that planning is the fulcrum around which any successful organisation revolves (Bazin, 2012). I have also come to learn that without planning, an organisation cannot be said to have a future (Gunder, 2003). Planning is also very important in setting targets based on several areas of the organisation such as marketing, taxes, logistics, research and development, promotions, and production (Roy, 2008). Indeed through the PPT, I have come to learn how to use PEST analysis, SWOT analysis, Ansoff matrix, Porter’s five forces and many more to strategically plan an organisation (Allmendinger & Gunder, 2005). The field learning involved those concepts and knowledge I acquired whiles involving myself in real interaction with people including colleagues in my team and customers on the market. As a result of the field learning also, I have come to learn so much about market demographic dynamics where I now that the best way to serve any given market is to have a thorough understanding of the different forms of needs available to the customer (Das, Binod, Kar & Rauno, 2012). Indeed the field learning also helped in developing several soft skills in me, most of which focused on communication skills, leadership skills, interpersonal relations skills, time management, ethics and courtesy, and critical thinking skills. An example of instance that can be cited as accounting for the development of the soft skills is when I needed to interact with
